friends, the time has come for a little reality check. since the beginning of this year, iâve been busier than ever at work, focusing on my physical health, and nurturing a new relationship that iâm very excited about. iâve been struggling to complete three emails a month since i started this project, but i committed to it for fourteen months. at this phase of fĂȘte, it makes the most sense to switch to two emails a month â currents and palate.
it makes sense to reduce my emails anyways because iâve felt a bit homebody-ish for most of march, so iâm pulling a few favorites from the archives this month.
book of the month
i finished big swiss and still find myself chipping away at lolita, so there havenât been any new books since last month. BUT i have been thinking a lot about a book i read a few years ago because of a moment i shared with my partner on his birthday.
signs: the secret language of the universe taught me a lot about the possibility of our loved ones still communicating with us after theyâre gone. and while anything can certainly be coincidental, this book made me choose to believe that itâs never just by chance, and my guardian angels are always around me.
on my boyfriendâs birthday, we kept seeing rabbits in places where they shouldnât have been and i convinced him it was his loved ones sending a birthday wish because why else would there be a domesticated rabbit in one of the parking spots at ollie vaughns?!
music
i havenât stopped listening to the same music since last month so again, i have very few updates. if you havenât listened to box for buddy, box for star, what are you waiting for?
i decided to revisit hurry up, weâre dreaming while i was on a bike ride last week because the crisp saturday morning sunshine with my tears are becoming a sea in my headphones and the wind in my hair was just chefâs kiss.
wines
the lineup for the hidden track tasting went crazy this week, and they were all from italy! the first two were may favorites â a pet nat (i forgot the grape, oops) and a pecorino (which i took home a bottle of). because of how little iâve been drinking this year, i have almost a dozen unopened wine club bottles so it might be time for me to throw a party soon.
visual inspiration: fun shoes
iâm sooo glad tiktok didnât get banned because then i never would have seen this video of a shoe collection that had me laughing, yearning, and feeling all of the feels.
it also made me really want to take half my shoes to buffalo exchange and save up for almost an entirely new shoe collection. surprisingly, some of the tory birch shoes ended up being my favorites because i normally just think of sandals with a giant logo on them, but these wedges are gorgeous!
thatâs it for this week! itâs been a quiet month but iâll have more for you next time, promise.
your friend,
lauren
