is this month’s newsletter a sign of the times? meaning, is phoenix’s hibernation season already upon us? as a native phonecian, i think the month of may gets a bad rep. it’s still really beautiful in the mornings and evenings, and sure, feeling the temperatures beginning to crawl is never fun, but it doesn’t have to be the spring scaries.
i came up a bit short this week on things to do and new places to try, but i’m sure more things will be announced in the coming weeks. for now, here’s what i’ve got:
openings & closings
arizona wilderness opened their third location at the end of april
eat up had a fire (i’m sad about this as someone who’s always worked in arcadia and loves this place for something quick and easy)
little pickle, a jewish deli that was only a pop-up until recently, is coming back for good on 5/19 at the esplanade
phoenix art museum is showing the royal tenanbaums on 5/21 as a tribute to gene jackman
april recap
i went to club contact and i loved it. i needed a reliable place to dance with the girls that wasn’t stardust.
i hosted a breakfast for dinner party for my birthday and it was sooo cute. more dinner parties to come this year
if there is a strawberry concha in the pastry case at valentine, order it immediately
i finally made it to the captain’s cabin and this will be one of my go-to places for a fun drink from now on
run, don’t walk, to mensho ramen
the tiny pony is a MUST when visiting joshua tree. cheap drinks, dancing, a quiet patio, what more could you want from a bar in the middle of nowhere?
like i said, i’m coming up a bit short this month, but there’s nothing wrong with keeping things short and sweet. see you in a couple of weeks!
with gratitude,
lauren
